Education is a critical pathway to opportunity, leadership and self-determination for Yurok students. Across the lower Klamath River region, many children attend small, rural schools with limited resources, long travel distances and fewer academic opportunities.

Yurok students are more likely to be first-generation college students and often face financial, geographic and institutional barriers when pursuing higher education. Scholarships and academic support help bridge these gaps, particularly for students coming from under-resourced schools who may lack access to college advising, preparation and navigation services.

By expanding access to higher education, education funding helps Yurok students pursue college and career pathways while strengthening long-term opportunity, leadership and community well-being.

Current Priority

The Klamath River Promise Neighborhood is an initiative focused on improving educational outcomes from cradle to career across the lower Klamath River area. 

While the initiative addresses the full educational continuum, a key component is strengthening pathways to college and postsecondary success for Yurok students. Support helps advance scholarships, advising and college navigation for Yurok students, increasing access as well as retention once enrolled.
